On Friday, May 15, 2009 John and Amy were blessed with a precious baby boy named Evan. At first it appeared that everything with their new baby boy was perfect. He was 6lbs 8.9 ounces and 19 inches long. Everyone says he looks just like his mom but with a head full of his dad's dark hair. Then, not long after he was born he began breathing rapidly and was taken to the NICU where he has been ever since.
The doctors and staff at the hospital have been running tests and taking chest x-rays. They are still not 100% sure as to what the problem is. He is being treated with IV antibiotics, has a CPAP machine, and monitors. He is being treated for the worst case scenarios, but we are hoping the lab cultures will come back with better news in a few days. Right now the doctors are thinking he has an infection caused by Group Strep B, but they are also thinking it could be a number of other things as well. We just don't know!
As we get new information we will post here on this blog. Feel free to leave comments here for John and Amy to read. Right now they are at home resting and spending time with their other 2 children Thomas and Sarah.
In the meantime we know that God Hears All Prayers, and Evan will be able to feel them and all our love!
